NBLAW 2025 – Norwegian Biometrics Laboratory Annual Workshop 2025

Date: 2025-03-04 (09:30-15:00) Location: Hybrid Event, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Campus Gjøvik Room K 102, Teknologivegen 22, Gjøvik, Norway

Organizer: Norwegian Biometrics Laboratory (NBL) in cooperation with the European Association for Biometrics (EAB)

Attendance is free of charge but registration is required prior to February 28 for in-person participation.

Back in spring 2011 our Norwegian Biometrics Laboratory (NBL) was established and for the opening we organized a workshop. Since then we have celebrated the NBL Annual Workshops (NBLAW). All the workshops are listed on the NBL homepage.

Face recognition based on deep learning has emerged as a key component of identity verification and authentication in a number of fields, such as access control, law enforcement, and mobile banking. Concerns about privacy, fairness, and ethics have gained prominence as technological developments continue to influence its uses. It is essential to develop and assess these systems with privacy in mind while implementing a human-in-the-loop methodology.

We invite speakers to the NBL Annual Workshop 2025 to discuss the advantages, challenges and risks of face recognition given its significant technological and societal implications. By bringing together viewpoints from academics, government, law, ethics, and psychology, we hope to promote a multidisciplinary conversation in this workshop. The workshop will be held as a hybrid event, allowing both in-person and remote participation.
