The Expert Meeting Identity Management 2040 working group brought together international experts and practitioners in the identity management field. The aim was to establish the current status of the practice, identify the challenges and develop a vision for 2040.In this Lunch Talk, Fons Knopjes and Prof. Dr. Didier Meuwly will present the valuable insights it generated on the advancements of identity management, including the impact of AI on the ID ecosystem, and their impact on the migration and protection of migrants.

The best practices derived from the findings of EM2040 are summarized in a “White Paper”, that can guide governments and international organizations to shape their roadmap for (digital) identification and travel, as well as to refine the frameworks supporting their ID ecosystems. You can watch a video on the preliminary findings of EM2040 here.

Julia de Bresser from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) will join the Q&A session to answer any questions related to the IOM and migration.
