This Lunch Talk will provide an overview of what a test lab does (and doesn't) do, the standards underpinning the evaluation of biometrics products and why testing is so important. The main threats and vulnerabilities facing biometric systems are described (covering presentation and injection attacks for different modalities), as well as the impact of machine learning and AI techniques; in particular, the growth of deep fake attacks and other emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
Curriculum vitæ
Dr. Chris Allgrove is an experienced SME, with extensive experience in digital identity and biometrics in the public sector, industry and academia. Chris is co-founder of a biometrics services company delivering consultancy, test and research and development and training services to a range of clients. He provides advice and guidance on the use of biometrics with digital identities, and has authored a number of UK Government guidance documents and standards in this area. In addition to working as a biometrics consultant with the World Bank, Chris is actively involved in international standards and a number of international industry bodies. Previously, Chris was the Head of Identity in Government for the National Cyber Security Centre.
