Speakers: Chris Allgrove (Ingenium Biometric Laboratories)
Program

In this Lunch Talk, Chris will address the critical need for biometric system resilience against sophisticated injection attacks, a growing threat in authentication. This presentation will cover the evolving landscape of these attacks, current testing methodologies, and new standards for assessing system resilience. Detecting injection attacks is vital for preventing unauthorized access, mitigating AI-based spoofing (deepfakes), ensuring compliance, and reducing fraud across sectors like remote IDV, KYC, and national security. The session will emphasize both offensive and defensive applications of machine learning, AI, and deepfake detection in tackling these emerging threats.

    OFIQ User Group Meeting

Date: 2026-01-20 (15:00-17:00 CEST) Location: Online (Note that time is CET)

Organizer: German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) and eu-LISA in cooperation with the European Association of Biometrics
    Program

The International Standard ISO/IEC 29794-5 Biometric sample quality - Part 5: Face image data was recently published. Along with this new standard the source code of the Open-Source Face Image Quality (OFIQ) software library was provided, which is the reference implementation of this standard.

The standard defines a unified quality score (UQS) for a face image and numerous, component quality measures (CQM), which provide accurate information such as the correctness of the pose or the sharpness of the face image (and many others).

This virtual meeting will provide an overview of the functionality provided with OFIQ and will give users an opportunity to raise questions and provide feedback. The dial-in information will be provided the evening before the event.
